Aramis Orchestra

What can music achieve in a world that is increasingly losing its rhythm?

The Aramis Orchestra offers an answer. With more than 90 young musicians from across the Rhine-Neckar region, the ensemble shows how creative collaboration can work in our world. Aramis was founded on the idea that music can unite many young people and foster their creativity. The orchestra is shaped and organized independently by its young members. This includes arranging scores, planning concerts, and staging accompanying elements such as dance, theater, film, stage lighting, and acrobatics. By interweaving different art forms with music and creating highly innovative formats in extraordinary locations, the ensemble artistically engages with the pressing issues of our time.

Since then, the young people have supported education and cultural values through benefit concerts and have performed at many events in Mannheim, most recently at the International Film Festival Mannheim Heidelberg and at the City of Mannheim's New Year's reception in the Mozart Hall at Rosengarten. Along the way, the orchestra has received several awards, including the Youth Education Prize Baden-Wuerttemberg and the top prize in the national competition Demokratisch Handeln in Berlin.

Most recently, Aramis launched an international project series titled "Protectors of the Earth" to strengthen European values and cultural education. In the first project in 2025, the ensemble performed together with a choir and musicians from the Sofia Philharmonic at an altitude of 2,700 meters in the Pirin Mountains in Bulgaria. For this, they brought the full orchestra, the choir, and a grand piano into the Pirin National Park for a film shoot that was covered by 17 newspapers and Bulgarian national television. The film "Protectors of the Earth", created by the young participants, makes this creative collaboration tangible and stands as a plea for humanity, international solidarity, and the preservation of valuable natural environments.

Through this commitment, the Aramis Orchestra now reaches thousands of people of all ages and also addresses groups that would normally have no access to culture. Through many partnerships with organizations, companies, decision-makers, and political actors, the goal is to inspire future-oriented thinking. In a world that will face even more challenges in the future, young people want to dare something together. Despite everything, or perhaps because of it, we sometimes only look without truly seeing. With the Aramis Orchestra, we finally begin to listen to one another.
